Geological studies (february 2008)

The Domaine is producing, with the University of Bourgogne collaboration, a research on the geology of the "Clos des Argillières" and "Clos Saint Marc." These Clos are adjacent ; just a fracture separates them. Geologists confirm currently that soils are very different. "It's day and night" according to a University of Bourgogne professor.

To retain the soil of the "Clos des Argillières", renovation of the wall of support : a nice old wall made with the pink limestone of Prémeaux-Prissey.

Le millésime 2006 (december 2007)

Bottling of the 2006 millésime has already begun and the Clos Saint Marc will be available soon... The racking conducted Dec. 20 by day fruit according to the lunar calendar of Maria Thun us greatly satisfied. A little mass rearing it to the greater good, before continuing its evolution in the bottle. Discovered in 2008, but to keep !

2007 millésime (october 2007)

We have just finished the 2007 wine makings. This year is quite particular, especially for the nerves of the winemaker… But finally a good surprise ! Fortunately the blue sky and the north wind helped us to complete the maturation and to collect under the sun. An important work of selection has been made in the vines with the grape-pickers, and then the “sorting team” did a good length and difficult work because the grapes had, this year, some rotted grains. It was necessary to turn over the grapes twice to remove all of them. We sorted on average a ton per hour with ten people present from 9 am to 8 pm.

Moreover in the vines there were different stages of maturity according to vines ; the management of the collecting calendar was this year momentous.

We started the harvest on September 1st and finished on September 14th : 5 to 6 days more than these last years.
The outputs are rather weak : between 28 hl and 30 hl per ha., not more than 2006.
There are a rather good level of maturity with 12.5% degrees ; the most beautiful vintages reached 13%.
Good acidities even a little strong at the beginning of wine making appear finally rather low with the setting out of barrels.

We should wait a little until the wines clear up before delivering an opinion on the quality of the year.

Vegetatif year making-up (august 2007)

Un débourrement ultra précoce. Du jamais vu, un mois d'avril digne d'un mois de juillet a provoqué le débourrrement précoce et rapide des bourgeons. Quasiment aucune pression de maladie jusqu'à la floraison qui s'est déroulée avec 3 semaines d'avance ! Un peu de coulure et de millerandage pour cette année sont à noter. En revanche, les conditions climatiques se sont gâtées à partir de ce stade. Un mois de juin bien arrosé rendait le vigneron heureux pour les petites greffes plantées au printemps. Mais ces conditions humides se sont installées durablement, la vigne ayant même du mal à s'aoûter, des jeunes poussent étant toujours en développement. L'été a-t-il eu lieu en avril ou viendra-t-il en septembre ? C'est sans doute là que réside l'avenir du millésime 2007... A suivre !

2004 millésime evolution (july 2007)

The wines start to open after one more closed period. They profit from a service at ambient temperature, and even slightly bring to room temperature. Encouraging for the guard of this year, not to decry…

2005 millésime (july 2007)

It confirms its statute of superb year. The bottling were finished in February. The demand is very keen but the wines deserve to be preserved a few times for a more complete tasting.

Small curiosity : one finds our Chambolle-Musigny “Les Charmes” 2001 in the japanese manga “Les Gouttes de Dieu” (volume 5, p. 71).

20 years after the one of 1987, this "Saint-Vincent tournante", Burgundy vine growers festival, celebrates this year the “Nuits-Saint-Georges” name.

Le millésime 2006 (october 2006)

Once sorted and scratched, the grapes are brought in the fermentation tank. Harvest, in small quantity, asked for a careful sorting. Maturity was very good (between 13 and 13,5) which lets predict one year more than interesting in the Côte de Nuits !
